ICE Statement

Our clinic is a safe, confidential healthcare space. We stand in solidarity with our communities in NC, FL, and VA.

We want to acknowledge the terror, intimidation, and arrests of hundreds in Raleigh, Charlotte, and across the state of North Carolina by federal immigration officials this week.

We want to reassure our communities that A Woman’s Choice clinics are safe, confidential health spaces. Our priority is providing compassionate, high-quality abortion services to every person who walks through our doors.

We want to be absolutely clear: we prioritize patient and staff safety, and our staff are prepared to interact with ICE or federal law enforcement. We will not permit ICE to access patient data or enter any private areas of our clinics unless required by law.

If we are not legally required to let ICE into the facility or to hand over private data, we will not do it.

Immigrants are the backbone of our countless industries, neighborhoods, and families. We cannot allow those with hateful agendas to terrorize communities—because no human is illegal.

At A Woman’s Choice Clinics, we understand the fear and uncertainty that many of our staff and patients are facing. But here is what we want you to know: without hesitation, we’re here for you. You have the right to safe healthcare without fear, judgment, or discrimination.

We have resources, support, and community ready to stand with you.

From our friends at the ACLU

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Immigration & Enforcement

1. You have the right to remain silent.

You do not have to answer questions about:

  • Your immigration status
  • Where you were born
    How you entered the U.S.

Say clearly: “I am choosing to remain silent.”

2. You have the right to refuse a search.

If an officer asks to search you, your belongings, or your car, you can say:
“I do not consent to a search.”

3. You do not have to open the door unless there is a judicial warrant.

A valid warrant must have:

  • Your name
  • The judge’s signature
  • Correct address

ICE’s “administrative warrants” (Forms I-200 or I-205) do not give them permission to enter your home.

4. You have the right to speak to an attorney.

You can say:
“I want to speak to a lawyer.”
Do not sign anything without legal advice.

5. You have the right to record.

You may record police or ICE activity as long as you do not interfere

IMPORTANT: Who’s Who?

Not all immigration agents wear vests labeled “ICE.”

  • HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) → A division of ICE
  • ERO (Enforcement and Removal Operations) → A division of ICE
  • CBP (Customs and Border Protection) → Not ICE, but also enforces immigration law at borders, airports, and within 100 miles of the border.
